Fancy Vacuum Electrode

Things are getting more fancy now. In the recent days I finished a project I was working on for a very long time. The combination of a vacuum cylinder and an estim electrode. Unlike the adaptions you can find elsewhere I wanted to have a contact sitting straight on the nipple or clit. So I decided to go with a spring loaded test pin commonly found in test equipment for electronics as the central electrode. Yes, it’s pointy but not sharp enough to penetrate the skin. The small contact area will provide a rather sharp and stingy sensation on her most sensitive spot. I admit, pleasure was not the ultimate development goal. Quite contrary. The second contact is realized with conductive aluminum tape around the base of the cylinder. Below a picture of the first finished vacuum electrode. One can see the acrylic disks holding the test pin, the cap holding the valve and the connectors as well as the aluminum tape around the base of the cylinder.


Here you can see an other detail picture of the disks holding the pin in the center of the cylinder. The disks and the cap were laser cutted by a cutting service similar to ponoko. In this picture you see a version with a 25 mm diameter acyrlic tube. The picture above shows a version with 20 mm diameter.

Making One

Well, besides access to a laser cutting service you need some more tools to make these. Partially they are kind a hard to get. The valves for instance are so called CPC couplings. These are the same found on most other high quality pumping equipment of kink stores. But they come with a quite exotic thread (1/8″ NPT) and you will need a special tapper for that. A miter-box saw is also inevitable for cutting the tubes in appropriated lengths. A good selection of small drills and a drill press is also of no harm.


I used the inserts of a Hirschmann 2 mm female connector pressed into the cap for the electrical connection to the estim device. That way I can use the standard wires for TENS pads.

Lessons Learned

Usually if you build such a complicated toy the first time you do a lot of mistakes. Most of the time it needs two or three iterations until I’m really satisfied with what I build. Following I will summarize the lessons I’ve learned doing the first iteration:

  • I should have used the UV-hardening version of the acrylic glue. The one I have has some out-gassing and that doesn’t look very pretty.
  • The acrylic glue does not bond well on metal like the test pin.
  • I used a syringe and a hypodermic needle for dispensing the glue inside the tube. Cutting the sharp tip and sanding any sharp edges was a wise idea.
  • My laser cutting service has a kerf of 0.3 mm. Design the cap with 25.3 mm instead of 25 mm. For the disks the nominal inner diameter worked best. The 0.3 mm are just the right tolerance.
  • Smaller tube diameters then 20 mm are not feasible. The acrylic will just break when you attempt to cut the thread.
  • The holes for the valve, the connectors and the pin I designed just a little bit smaller than they should be. A drill with the right diameter will give cleaner results than the laser.
  • The disks will need venting holes so the air can pass as you pump.
  • The test pins come in two parts. The spring loaded pin and a bushing where the wire is soldered to. Unless your glue does bond extremely well with the metal of the bushing you should assemble the whole thing before gluing it into the tube.

    Cool, you were talking about this last time! Still looking for time and energy to build something simple… I’m thinking I should start with a driver for a Arduino controller or something basic, I need a start! But so busy, 2 projects at work going right now. Have fun testing!
